The «Memory of the Fishermen of Fuzeta in Dura Faina do Bacalhau» is the theme of Manuel Pereira's lecture, scheduled for Saturday, December 2, at the Sala Multiusos da Fuzeta (on Av. 25 de Abril, in front of the Camping Park and next to the Caixa Agrícola counter).

The initiative, which is open to the public, is organized by the Foz do Eta Association, the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta and APOS -Association for the Valorization of the Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Olhão.

The fishing village of Fuzeta was one of the places that more fishermen provided, in the Algarve, to the white fleet, as the Portuguese cod fishing fleet in the Newfoundland seas was known in the mid-twentieth century. It was such a difficult activity that men were given the choice between going to the codfish or going to the army.
