A Algar, company responsible for the recovery and treatment of solid waste in the Algarve, is associated with the European Week for Waste Reduction, which runs until 26 November, promoting the "Hora da Troca" fair in schools and a solidarity collection of toys in favor of the «Entreajuda» association.

The company encourages schools in the Algarve region «to organize object exchange fairs, which may be entitled “Exchange Time” «, with the objective of «promoting the direct exchange of objects such as CDs, books, toys or other materials , which are still in a position to be used by other people'.

According to Algar, this action aims, above all, to «increase the useful life cycle of objects and alert students to the importance of avoiding the waste of materials, thus contributing to the reduction of waste disposal in landfill».

Also within the scope of the European Week for Waste Reduction, Algar will carry out a campaign to collect used toys, at the company's 14 facilities, for delivery to needy families in the Algarve, supported by Entreajuda (Support to Social Solidarity Institutions).

The European Week for Waste Reduction is now in its 9th edition and has a series of initiatives that take place throughout Europe, from competitions, to conferences, exhibitions, artwork, street actions, fairs and presentations «to alert the public consumers, workers, students and other groups to the need to reduce the millions of tons of waste we make every year”.

This Week "has been gathering more and more supporters around the issues of waste prevention", stresses Algar, as it has "revealed an initiative of great importance in the development of awareness about the waste prevention strategy and in the promotion of good prevention practices'.
