The European Grand Prix of Endurance “Aquabike Portugal”, with water bikes and jet skis, takes place from the 27th to the 29th of October, in Portimão. 

It is the ninth time that the city hosts the International Endurance journey on personal watercraft, after the interruption in 2016.

The format will be the same as in 2015, open only to European titles in the GP1, GP2, GP3 and Veterans categories, both in jects as in motorbikes, with the realization of a manga, on the 28th of October, of 60 minutes for the jects and 120 minutes for the personal watercraft, and another sleeve on the 29th, 60 minutes, for the jects and 180 minutes for motorbikes.

O paddock The main one will be located in the Portimão Riverside Zone, next to the Clube Naval, where the confirmation of entries will start on Friday (27th), from 16:00 pm to 20:00 pm, at the race secretariat, with the morning of the following day reserved for the respective verifications. of safety and the usual meeting of pilots.

After the preparations, the departure of the jet skis will take place on the sandy beach of Praia da Marina at 12:00 on Saturday (28 October), towards the entrance of the bar, and will take place between the jetty and the beach at Marina.

At 14:00 it will be the turn of the motorbikes, departing also from Praia da Marina towards Praia do Vau, Praia da Rocha and Praia da Marina, «for two hours of pure adrenaline, with refueling and change of riders taking place at Praia da Marina », explains the Chamber of Portimão.

Sunday (October 29th) will be identical to the day before, with the motorcycle race registering another hour in duration compared to Saturday. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 17:00 at the Clube Naval de Portimão.

In the total of the two days of competition, the personal watercraft riders will cover 400 kilometers and the jects 200 kilometres, with athletes from several countries being represented, some of them being national champions in the Endurance modality, forming teams of two pilots.

Among the confirmed pilots, the participation in the jet ski, the Portuguese Joana Graça, Matteo Valente, Diogo Barbosa, Henrique Rosa Gomes and Sebastião Fragoso, and the Spanish Vicente Cano.

Nas runabouts, the highlight goes to the national and Iberian champion in Endurance Augusto Fernandes, and the European champion in closed course and Iberian Christophe Agostinho, who will partner with his brother Patrick.

Also participating are French endurance champions Roland Couhet/Araud Bourreau, Thomas Favolini, and Italians Michele Cadei, Christian Bousquet and Stefano Ciani.

This unique event of the 2017 European Championship is included in the calendar of the UIM – União Internacional de Motonáutica and is jointly organized by the Free Promoter – Associação Náutica Motorizada and Portimão Municipal Council, with the technical support of the Portuguese Federation of Motornautics and support of the Clube Naval de Portimão and Marina Portimão.
