Colloquiums, exhibitions of game species, handicrafts or gastronomy with an emphasis on game-based dishes are some of the attractions of the X Feira da Perdiz, to be held on November 11th and 12th, at the Municipal Pavilion of Martim Longo (Alcoutim) .

The fair will be attended by companies and associations in the sector, where visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities such as falconry, dog contests, a workshop of obedience and canine socialization or musical animation.

At the taverns it will then be possible to taste various typical dishes of the region's gastronomy at this time of year, with emphasis on game-based dishes.

«The hunting tradition in Portugal dates back a long way back in time, but began to become increasingly common and elegant in the late nineteenth century, being one of the most genuinely practiced sports in the Iberian Peninsula and with great expression in the Municipality of Alcoutim, contributing to the dynamism and animation of the municipality», says the local Town Hall.

Alcoutim has two municipal hunting zones, 14 tourist hunting zones and 28 associative hunting zones.

This year, the Partridge Fair hosts the third Technical Journeys Opuntia ficus-indica by Alcoutim, with a program with distinguished guests and a showcooking where Indian fig recipes by Vítor Ramos, master pastry chef at Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa will be presented.

The stage shows are another point of interest presenting to the fair's public, on Saturday 11th, at 22 pm, the Irmãos Verdade and on Sunday, the 00th, at 12:17 pm, the group Cruzeiro.

The initiative includes two sports competitions, on the 11th the Mountain Bike Tour “On the route of the partridge”, and on the 12th the Marcha Corrida competition.

The event will run on November 11th between 11:30 am and 2:00 am and on November 12th between 9:00 am and 22:00 pm.
