Last week, the Albufeira School Group received a group of eleven educators and teachers from Belgium, Estonia and Romania, who are visiting Albufeira, as part of the 3rd meeting of the partnership in the Erasmus+ project “From the Forest to the Sea."

The meeting, which ran until the 21st of October, had the objective of, «among Portuguese teachers and participating European partners, share experiences and work methodologies developed in each of the countries», explains the host Schools Group.

Over the days, participants had the opportunity to visit the different schools that make up the cluster, to witness on the spot the particular line of action of each school, as well as the global organization of the Albufeira Schools Group, which covers from pre-school to secondary, including professional courses, with visitors having observed some practical classes from the different educational cycles.

This event also included a tidal activity and observation of marine specimens, led by marine biologist Ana Simões, from the Clube de Pesca e Náutica Desportiva de Albufeira, and a field activity in Alte. This allowed all participants to observe the differences between the coast, the barrocal and the Algarve mountains and participate in exploratory activities that are often experienced by the various groups in the group.

This project takes place over two school years, in pre-school and 1st cycle schools, encouraging children to take an active role in their learning, which is their main subject.

The acquisition of knowledge and skills essential to the child's development is promoted through problem solving (inquiry-based teaching) and participation in activities in contact with nature (methodology outdoor education).

As a guideline, traditional stories are used that allow children to acquire knowledge and particularities of the culture of the countries involved, making them feel like European citizens
