“Why have the results of Portuguese students improved?” is the theme of a conference to be held this Wednesday, 25th October, at 14:30 pm, in the Grande Auditório of the Universidade do Algarve, on the Campus de Gambelas.

The event is promoted by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, as part of the Education and Science Month.

As the foundation explains, “the study presented tomorrow is the basis of the recently launched digital work “A Educação em Exame”.

“Who are the students who take the PISA test? Why did your results improve? How does Portugal compare to other countries?” are some of the questions that will be answered at this event.

The Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation (FFMS) adds that «in recent years, the country has received good news in the education sector: the results of Portuguese students in international tests have improved, particularly in the PISA tests» and that, in tomorrow's conference, « the authors of the aQeduto project (Assessment, Quality and Equity in Education) will present an analysis of the evolution of the profile of students and their performance and the reasons for success will be discussed, with the collaboration of Manuel Célio Conceição», professor at the University of Algarve.

This theme “is the basis for an unprecedented digital work, “Education in examination”, which has just been launched by the FFMS in partnership with the National Education Council and Expresso. This work, which offers an overview of the Portuguese education system, brings together in a single site, the largest analysis of the evolution of Portuguese students' results in these international tests, explaining the factors that contributed to this success or giving the possibility to compare the position of Portugal with other countries,” concludes the foundation.
