Laughter yoga, life testimonies and awareness of issues such as domestic violence and human trafficking are part of the program that the Municipality of Olhão set up to mark the Municipal Day for Equality, on the 24th of October, next Tuesday. fair.
The municipality of Olho is going to develop various activities throughout the day, aimed at different audiences.
One of them is the “Alegria pela Equality” initiative, aimed at citizens who attend community centers in the municipality. In this context, a Laughter Yoga session will be promoted, «which provides a group environment where participants interact, providing benefits in terms of physical and emotional well-being, and creating a relaxed environment that promotes equality», according to the Chamber of Olhão.
The program will also reach the Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Secondary School, which will host and help boost the action “I'm Free to Choose”, which «intends to combat stereotypes associated with professions».
A fisherwoman, a civil engineer, a mechanical engineer and an educator will participate in this initiative, reporting their life experience.
Leaflets and other materials will also be made available in public places in the county, with the aim of alerting the community to the issues of domestic violence, dating violence, violence resulting from homophobia and human trafficking.
«These activities place the emphasis on awareness, which involves overcoming stereotypes and prejudices, to promote a culture that promotes equality», concluded the Chamber of Olhão.
