Joana Schenker, from the Algarve, has just been crowned world champion in bodyboarding, this Sunday, October 8, in the penultimate stage of the professional circuit, held at Praia do Norte, in Nazaré.
Joana Schenker, from Vila do Bispo, was even eliminated in the quarter-finals, but would still reach the much-desired title, when the last stage of the world circuit still has to be played.
The athlete from the Sagres Bodyboard Association had already won the national and European title, to which she now joins the world champion.
This is the first time that a Portuguese woman reaches the maximum title on the professional world circuit.
