The Brabham BMW BT52, the Formula1 model used by three-time champion Nelson Piquet in 1983, will be, for the first time in Portugal, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), from 20 to 22 October.

Pedro Piquet, son of the well-known F1 driver, will drive, during the European Le Mans Series, the Brabham BMW BT52, in demonstration laps, during the three days of the event.

With a turbo engine of 850 horsepower, the Formula1 BMW, which was strategically developed to be a winner, was an important point in the consecration of Nelson Piquet as champion in 1983, in a perfect union between driver and car, in what was also a milestone in Formula 1, being the first F1 World Champion Turbo car.

This race that puts renowned drivers to tear up the AIA track also has the participation of the TCR and Michellin Le Mans Cup categories, which will complete a weekend of unforgettable races.

Filipe Albuquerque on the road to victory

The return of the European Le Mans Series to the Algarve circuit, in October, counts with the participation of the Portuguese pilot Filipe Albuquerque.

At 80 points from the leadership, is United Autosports, a team from Albuquerque, which, in 2015, achieved the historic feat of being the only Portuguese to be in the lead of the 24h of Le Mans.

In second place and with a difference of 18 points from the championship leaders, the Portuguese driver, with his teammates, seeks to reach a podium on Algarve soil, promising a close fight during the 4 hours of the race.
