The mayor of São Brás de Alportel and candidate for the post Vítor Guerreiro was forced by the National Election Commission (CNE) to remove from a billboard announcing the future bus terminal and to remove from the municipality's official website «all publications that publish acts, programs, works or services, except in cases of serious and urgent public need».

The decision was taken following a complaint made to the CNE by the São Brás de Alportel Primeiro coalition, which brings together the PSD and the CDS-PP. The coalition accuses the municipal executive of not having "any respect for the population and the money that belongs to all of us" and of using it "to campaign for the PS and its candidate".

For the CNE, the billboard in question and some of the information provided by the Chamber violates the law approved in 2015 that prohibits institutional advertising, "only allowing as an exception the disclosure of acts, programs, works or services when they are presented with a specific character. urgent or correspond to works, services or programs whose knowledge of the citizens is essential».

Although Vítor Guerreiro, called to respond to the complaint by the CNE, argued that the information in question was relevant, as he considered it "very convenient for the residents to be aware of the performance of such works by the municipality in order to organize their lives according to them', this justification did not apply to the regulatory authority.

Thus, in addition to being notified to remove the posters, the mayor of São Brás de Alportel was urged to refrain 'from, in the future, promoting publications that publicize acts, programs, works or services, except in the case of serious and urgent public need, in all forms of communication used by the City Council, under penalty of incurring in the practice of a crime of disobedience».

The poster was, however, removed.
