More modern and functional furniture, improvements in the two multipurpose rooms, the children's room, the reading room and the multimedia room, as well as the reception. These are the main news that the Biblioteca de Lagoa presented on Friday, September 8, the municipality's municipal holiday, the day it reopened its doors.

The reopening was a moment of celebration, with the sound of Helena Madeira's harp, accompanying the «poetry step by step», with poems said and performed by actress Elisabete Martins, on the Library's staircase.

In one of the renovated multipurpose rooms, he opened the painting exhibition «20 Years with Art», by the artist Patico. This was followed by children's animation by Bruno Batista and the juggler Tosta Mista.

Clara Andrade, director of the Municipal Library, added to the Sul Informação that the structure now has 16 multimedia consultation posts, "with up-to-date computers, in a space that is preferred by the younger generation".

She added that a restructuring program is also being implemented - to better respond to the community of readers and other potential users - which will include the reinforcement of the partnership with the School Libraries Network, in the next school year, free and unlimited access to the internet or the animation of a new Reading Club, among others». There are also projects to open municipal library centers at least in Carvoeiro and Estômbar.

The Municipal Library of Lagoa has 61.588 records in its computerized catalog and 6.521 registered readers.
