The II Festival “Escritas do Sul” – The Portuguese Language Festival takes place between tomorrow, the 8th, and Sunday, the 10th, in the village of Almodôvar. Jorge Palma, João Gil and Celina da Piedade are some of the musical guests at this event.

"Over three days, visitors to the event will be able to attend conferences, book presentations, improbable conversations, artistic performances, exhibitions of Portuguese-speaking literature and thematic tables", says the Chamber of Almodôvar.

According to the municipality, the event “intends to bring something innovative to our region, celebrating our language in its most diverse expressions and aspects. Portuguese-speaking music, literature, debate, theatre, conversations, book presentations and a wide range of initiatives will make this a unique party».

The Chamber of Almodôvar considers that “it makes perfect sense to hold this festival in Almodôvar, as the event celebrates, at the same time, the importance that writing has had in our territory for 2500 years, namely the “Writing of the Southwest”.

The organization is by the City Council and entries are free. The project is co-financed by Alentejo 2020, Portugal 2020 and by the European Union – European Regional Development Fund.
