O BPM Festival which takes place between tomorrow, Thursday, the 14th, and Sunday, the 17th, in the municipalities of Portimão (Praia da Rocha) and Lagoa, has already sold 9500 tickets and will have a Civil Protection device highlighted by 115 operational and 21 vehicles , so that everything runs safely.

The final coordination meeting with the promoters of the festival took place this Monday and had the participation of "all Civil Protection agents", said the Chamber of Portimão.

The Municipality says that it “intends and demands” that the BPM Festival be safe, “regardless of the seven different venues where it will take place (six of which are located in the Municipality of Portimão, and one in the Municipality of Lagoa, at the Arade Congress Center)”.

According to the local authority, "the festival is expected to involve 15000 people between clients and the organization, with a maximum sales ceiling of 12000 tickets having been established, of which 9500 are already sold in ten different countries".

The Chamber estimates that, on average, "each foreign participant spent around 1000 euros, including travel, accommodation and admission costs, to be in Portimão during these four days."

BPM planning meeting

In addition, "studies by the promoter of the event show that each tourist also spends on the local economy in the order of 500 euros, reflecting the hosting of this festival in an asset for the dynamization of the local business fabric", adds the autarchy.

The Municipality of Portimão says that all places that will participate in the BPM «are establishments licensed to receive the public in the scope of shows, dance and restaurants, with different schedules, namely NoSoloÁgua, Blanco Beach, Katedral, Villa Mariazinha, Oceans Club and Cloque ». Each of these establishments has a maximum capacity established and access control measures have been defined.

The operational device of Civil Protection for the BPM Festival involves the Firefighters of Portimão, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP), the Maritime Authority/Maritime Police (AM/PM), the Security Police Public (PSP) and the Republican National Guard (GNR).

On the land next to the Portimão Marina roundabout, an Operational Command Post of the Municipal Civil Protection Service, a Fire Department and an Advanced Medical Post of the Portuguese Red Cross will also be established during the event. , concludes the Chamber.

O BPM is one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world and takes place for the first time outside Mexico. In its last edition, in the Mexican town of Playa del Carmen, in January, a shooting, involving drug cartels, killed five people and injured 15 others, this being one of the reasons for his move to Praia da Rocha.
