Armona's Intervention and Requalification Plan will be approved "by the end of the year", guaranteed this Monday, 21 August, Environment Minister João Matos Fernandes, during his visit to the Algarve.

The member of the Government told journalists, on the sidelines of the signing of a protocol for the construction of the new wharf on Ilha de Tavira, that he was aware of the process concerning the existing housing nucleus on this barrier island of Ria Formosa and that he intended to resolve it. it still in 2017.

The same guarantee was given to the mayor of Olhão, in a meeting between António Pina and the minister of the Environment. At that meeting, João Matos Fernandes «made it clear that, also by the end of 2017, the concession of Armona to the Municipality of Olhão will be renewed, for another period of 30 years, with a new territorial delimitation, in order to safeguard the interests of all how many have a house on the island», according to the municipality of Olho.
