Louletano Sports Club (LDC) will now accept 3-year-old children in its football training classes. The Loulé club has launched a new motor learning program aimed at the little ones, which starts in this modality, but «can be directed to any other».

In Portugal, recalls Louletano, sports initiation is carried out «at increasingly younger ages». And if, at an early stage, the offer made available to babies and young children was linked to swimming, there are other modalities that lend themselves to this task.

«Most of the movements made in the aquatic environment, are possible to perform on land, in more natural and facilitating conditions for children, a fact that has led the major national clubs (FC Porto and SL Benfica, among others) to implement this program in their institutions', according to the LDC.

The Algarve club is now following the same path. The activities that will be made available to younger children aim to stimulate the development «of the bases of the motor repertoire (mastery of the body), to later be integrated into the different stages of football teaching (LDC football school methodology) or any other modality sport".

Among the actions to be developed, there are «playful activities, small organization games, rules games, space-time games, pre-sports games and coordination circuits fundamentally aimed at the development of motor skills, as well as some skills related to Soccer ».

«The classes for these children will be held in a learning environment rich in materials, for example, with balls of different sizes, colors and so that children have as many motor experiences as possible. The club will have specialized technicians and academic training, essential for working with young people of such a young age», concluded Louletano.
