The “5 Wonders” of Lagoa will be unveiled at a gala to be held this Saturday, September 2, at 21 pm, at the Centro de Congressos do Arade, in Parchal.
The gala “Wonders of the Heritage of Lagoa 2017 – Looking at the Past Towards the Future” is “open to the entire population, because the heritage of Lagoa belongs to everyone and everyone should learn to value a collective heritage that comes from the past and already belongs to the new generations», considers the City Council.
In total there were ten places in the competition.
Starting with the Natural Landscape of the Coastal Coast, passing by the Promontory of Senhora da Rocha and the Church of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, in Porches, without forgetting the Convent of São José, the proposals related to several places in the municipality.
The Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, in Lagoa, the Church of São Tiago, in Estômbar, the Municipal Park of Sítios das Fontes, the Misericórdia Churches of Lagoa and Estômbar, the Chapel of Santo António, in Mexilhoeira da Carregação, and the traditional urban center of Ferragudo.
«To the heritage will be added, at the Gala das Maravilhas, contemporary expressions of the performing arts such as dance, music, video and other performances, with several surprises prepared with the complicity of the local associations that sponsored the highlighted places», explains the Lagoon autarchy.
This initiative arose under the theme “Heritage – Looking at the past towards the future” with which the Câmara de Lagoa wants to “make known the county's many sites and monuments, promoting at the same time the need to safeguard and preserve them”.
Access to the gala is free, but requires prior reservation and ticket collection, which can be made at the Convento de S. José in Lagoa, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:30 pm.
