The Riverside Park of Faro it is, for the first time, the stage of a music festival. The Etcetera Art Music Festival presents, from 4th and 5th of August, between 18 pm and 00 am, 5 DJs, the debut in the Algarve of the promise of hip hop National Slow J and Art Installations by the Association 289.
«The idea intended to bring together art, music and nature. We found the perfect place and in need of animation», says Nuno Silva, from the organization, to the Musical/Sul Informação.
The event, which has as its central point the amphitheater overlooking the Ria Formosa, is not closed to a specific musical genre, with an electronic trend, complemented by a concert by Slow J «with hip hop different, lyrical of a young man who writes very well».
There are also international artists that the festival sought to bring to Faro, considering that “events that significantly enrich our cultural calendar” must be created.
Quality is the word that best describes the poster. The gauge is placed in the names found in European festivals, but not necessarily in the best known. However, «that doesn't mean they lack quality».
«The entire concept is designed without thinking about commercialism. We wanted to think of a well-defined concept that has environmental and quality concerns in music and art. A concept that promotes risk but, above all, improves the quality of the festival. Faro it must promote itself through quality and difference», highlights Nuno Silva.
Taking as a reference the offer, which they classify as distinguished and of quality, from the F Festival or from the Baixa Street Fest animations, two «farenses friends» decided to get together and respond to what they consider a lack in the offer to French, German, Spanish tourists , Dutch, who is increasingly seeking the capital of the Algarve «and who wants another type of product and that is what we seek to offer», highlights Nuno Silva.
The DJs presented at Etcetera are part of the huge offer that exists within the so-called electronic music, but the organization's intention is that, with this landscape and artistic offer, visitors can enjoy a “full body” experience.
«We want people to “live” the festival with their eyes, from an artistic point of view, we want them to feel with their whole body – with their skin, their ears – the music and the sound and, above all, experience that environment with the best backdrops of Ria Formosa and music connecting it all».
The concept created intends that the different dimensions of the festival work in a compatible way: music and art and nature. Like other festivals, there will be recyclable and reusable cups, but the value will be refunded "if the person does not want to take it".
All materials used in the festival's constructions and logistics are recyclable, «so as not to generate the usual festival waste», adds Nuno Silva.
Attreet food it is also present on the premises, “but with healthy, vegetarian alternatives”.
In art, the partnership with Associação 289 reveals a concern for interventions to respect both the concept and the space.
Without giving too much away, Nuno Silva reveals that «they have something to do with nature, they respect the space where they are located, the history of Ria Formosa and the concept of the festival».
Tickets for Etcetera cost 17 euros for each day, 22 euros for the two days and are on sale in Faro at Madalena, at Largo da Madalena, from 9:00 am to 2:00 am, or in the enclosure, after 16:00 pm.
