The seventh edition of “Facume: International Short Film Festival of Faro”, to be held from 21 to 26 August, returns this year to Sociedade Recreativa Artística Farense “Os Artistas” and goes from the usual four to six days of cinema.

The sessions always start at 21 pm and there is another novelty: due to the support obtained, entry is free.

In all, around 1500 short films were received, from the four corners of the world, and the organization selected nearly two hundred works for exhibition during the six days of the festival, representing almost 30 hours of cinema divided into four categories – animation, documentary, fiction and video clips.

This year, as in the previous edition, there was a significant number of Portuguese short films competing and being selected for screening.

In addition to Portugal, which appears once again this year as the most represented country, films from 40 countries are selected, standing out beyond European countries (such as Spain, Germany, France and Italy) and from the entire American continent (such as USA, Canada, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil), as far away as Iran, Iraq, India, China, Israel, Australia and Azerbaijan.

According to the organization, the objective of Farcume, which this year returns to the place where it was "born", "is to seek, within an informal, cheerful and relaxed environment, to reward and recognize dedication, commitment, creativity and merit of the directors, actors and technical teams who, without having the budgets of the Hollywood film industry, perform excellent work, but which do not always have the desired and deserved disclosure».
