Athlete Luís Costa, born in Castro Verde but residing in Portimão, will represent Portugal in the Paracycling World Championship, from 31st August to 1st September, in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Telmo Pinão will be the other Portuguese in action. The pair, who already wore national colors at the 2016 Paralympic Games, will participate in the long-distance and time trial events.

Luís Costa competes in the H5 class, in which he will face nine rivals, and Telmo Pinão runs in C2, in a peloton with more than 20 paracyclists.

The athlete from Portimão is the first to take action, taking part in the 23,3 km time trial, starting at 12:00 on the 31st of August. Two days later, at 14 pm, the 00 km long distance race begins.

Telmo Pinão will compete in the 31-kilometer time trial starting at 8:00 am on day 1. On the 3rd, at 9:30 am, he will compete in the long distance race, which will have 85 km.

«We are going with the ambition to achieve good results. Luís Costa is aiming for the podium, both in the time trial and in the long distance, although it is an easier goal to reach in the online race. Telmo Pinão will fight for a place in the top 10», assumes José Marques, national paracycling coach.
