Culture, gastronomy, «dream beaches and a high-quality entertainment program for all tastes and ages» are some of the ingredients to spend an «unforgettable summer», from July to September, in Portimão.

The month of July will be marked by «unique moments, the first of which between 14 and 16, in the riverside area of ​​Portimão, next to the Old Fish Market, with the coolest market in the South, the Lota Cool Market, a reference window in the south of the country for the dissemination of what is most creative in the areas of handicraft, design, entertainment and gourmet cuisine», says the Câmara de Portimão.

This is followed by the Book Fair, from 14 July to 24 August, which this year celebrates its 60th edition, and promises opportunities to buy great literary works at very tempting prices, as well as the presence of autograph writers .

On the 15th of July, the Alameda da Praça da República receives a concert by the “Ala dos Namorados”. Regarding sports, from the 8th to the 9th of July, the AIA – Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will host the largest concentration of Porsche ever – Iberian Porsche Meeting, where the passion for the brand and the vivid emotions of the speed circuits will be shared.

Meanwhile the Praia da Rocha Sports Area will continue to promote the practice of various sports and presents a program of events and initiatives, from 3rd July to 2nd September.

Also in July, from the 21st to the 23rd, the Portimão Wine Tasting «promises three days of good experiences in a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere, with an emphasis on regional wines and products», according to the Portimão Chamber.

Getting to know the city of Portimão and Alvor better will be possible through the nightly cultural tours on the 14th and 28th of July and the activities carried out under the blue flag program, such as the “Contos Azuis”, which take place on the city's beaches between 18 and July 20th.

August begins with one of the country's unavoidable gastronomic events – the Sardine Festival. Sardine is once again queen and at the event that takes place between the 2nd and the 6th, in the riverside area of ​​Portimão, there will be no lack of crafts, gastronomy and lots of music with Aurea, on the 2nd, Reflect, on the 3rd, Átoa (the 4th ), Cuca Roseta (5th) and João Só closing.

Fernando Mendes is present with his show “Noivo por Acaso” that promises a lot of laughs, and can be seen in the Great Auditorium of TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão from 3rd to 27th August.

Between the 11th and the 14th of the same month, the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande organizes the Arts and Flavors of Our Land Show, showing regional traditions and products ranging from handicrafts, sweets and other local traditions.

Also in August, sport is king with the holding, from 25 to 27, of the 24H Endurance Series at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and the Futsal Masters Cup, which includes the presence of the four best Iberian futsal teams that will compete in a pre-season tournament at Portimão Arena.

In September the snacks are back with the “Terras do Arade” Snack Route, running until 15 October. As for the Superbike World Championship, it promises great emotions on the track of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, from the 15th to the 17th. The Festival do Berbigão will also be present, from the 9th to the 10th, in Figueira.

This «will be a summer where there will be no lack of cultural proposals, such as the exhibitions on display at the Museu de Portimão or the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, the gastronomy that combines the best flavors of land and sea in the municipality's restaurants, beaches with warm waters and fine sand and everything else that Portimão offers to make the days memorable», according to that municipality.
