"Designer or gardener?" is the title of Filipe Trigo's conference that will take place next Saturday, July 15, at 15 pm, at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT), in Portimão.

The title of the lecture, «in non-sense mode» in the words of the designer, refers to the contrast between the activity of the gardener, who follows the natural cycle of the plants, and that of the designers, where there is daily pressure to complete your work.

Filipe Trigo is a university professor and responsible for the Design Department at Metropolitano de Lisboa, where he manages a vast program for the standardization of furniture, signage and graphic supports.

The conference is followed by the delivery of prizes for the illustration competition launched in March to secondary schools in the Algarve, «with the aim of developing a taste for the field of illustration and recognizing artistic skills among young people in the Algarve», says ISMAT.

This competition, called “Illustrate your t-shirt – White on Black”, was promoted by ISMAT's Architecture and Communication Design courses, and was joined by several 12th-year students from professional and technical courses and in the area of Visual arts.

The theme of the illustration was “Generation Z”, which designates young users of various technologies, and the authors of the three best proposals get computer devices and significant discounts on tuition fees, if they want to attend courses in Communication Design or Architecture.
