The next Festival of Contraband takes place from 23 to 25 March, in Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana.
The villages will 'dress up', with a varied 'poster of cultural events, music, theater, traditional arts and crafts, circus art, musical entertainment' or 'characters such as smugglers and tax guards strolling through the streets», tells the Chamber of Alcoutim.
There will also be workshops traditional crafts, the smuggling journeys, a photography competition or even the possibility of visiting “monuments of the region's history and smuggling, always bearing in mind the beauty and magnificence of the Guadiana River”.
The flavors of the mountains and Rio are one more of the proposals of this festival, as well as enjoying the diversity that the local cuisine offers at this time of year and finding traditional sweets, authentic and unmistakable flavors.
This is an initiative organized by the Municipality of Alcoutim in partnership with the Ayuntamiento Sanlúcar de Guadiana, which has the support of the Government of Portugal, Turismo de Portugal, Algarve Tourism Region, 365 Algarve.
