The XXIII edition of the Folklore Festival took place last Saturday, July 15, at Centro Multiusos do Azinhal, in Castro Marim.

«On stage was the exclusivity brought by each group, through their dances, singing and musical instruments, costumes and props, which reflected some particularities of uses, customs and traditions in the Algarve, Ribatejo, Alentejo and the North», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

The performances were by the Folklore Group of Azinhal, the Folklore Group of the Casa do Povo de Almeirim, the Choral Group “Os Rurais” (Figueira dos Cavaleiros) and the Folklore Group of the House of the People of Serzedelo (Guimarães).

Known for its bobbin lace lace makers, «the village of Azinhal carries with it a strong trace of the cultural character of the municipality of Castro Marim, fostered by this initiative, which promotes folklore, linked to our history and tradition», adds the municipality of Castro Marim.

The XXIII Folklore Festival of Azinhal was organized by the Casa do Povo and Rancho Folclórico do Azinhal and had the support of the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Parish Council of Azinhal.
