Prime Minister António Costa visited, this Monday morning, 17 July, the company Sparos, headquartered in Olhão

On the occasion, António Costa met that company dedicated to innovation and development of new products, technologies and processes for feeding fish.

The prime minister was accompanied by Ana Paula Vitorino, Minister of the Sea, and José Apolinário, Secretary of State for Fisheries, and other members of central and local government.

«Sparos is an excellent example of how a knowledge-intensive company can decisively contribute to changing what is not only the industry, but also the technological profile of the country and, above all, contribute to the future sustainability of the quality of human food with based on fish, which is, in fact, the best quality option,” said the prime minister.

This opinion was supported by António Pina, mayor of Olhão. «It is a reason to rejoice for all of us to be able to count on a company with such an innovative character as Sparos in the municipality. It is this type of project, dedicated to research, innovation and, above all, facing the sea, that we want to attract to Olhão».

To Sparos, spin off of the Center for Marine Sciences of the University of Algarve, is a small and medium-sized scientific and technological company dedicated to the development of new products and nutritional solutions for the aquaculture market, located in Olhão, but serving the entire European market.

«With a highly specialized human capital, it seeks solutions that respond to the industry's sustainability challenges, through innovation in new products and new processes for feeding and feeding fish», says the Câmara de Olhão.

And, on his 56th birthday, António Costa did not leave without wishing him congratulations.
