The night of the 15th of July, in Alcoutim, will be Fado and Flamenco. The cross-border event promoted by the municipalities of Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana, for the second consecutive year, will take place at Praça da República, from 22 pm.

The aim of the organizers of the “Night of Fado and Flamenco” is to “strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two villages on the border through the most important national musical expressions of both countries: Fado and Flamenco, musical styles classified by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity».

The show will have the participation of fado singer Renato Nené. Born in Vila Real de Santo António, the artist has been singing since he was 13 years old and in 2015 he won the II Grand Prix Nacional do Fado. In Alcoutim, the fado singer will be accompanied by Virgílio Lança, on viola, and Jorge Franco, on Portuguese guitar.

Flamenco will be represented by Cristina Soler, a singer from Huelva, «coming from a family with a great tradition in flamenco singing and who also started singing at a very young age», explains the Municipality of Alcoutim.

Cristina Soler will be accompanied by Juanfe Perez, on guitar, and by Jose María Viñas and Elena Ollero, on dance.

The program also includes a demonstration of cutting and tasting Iberian ham, as well as a tasting of white wine from the County of Huelva. Admission is free.
