the airport of Faro transported 3,76 million passengers in the first months of 2017, according to data disclosed by VINCI, owner of ANA Aeroportos. This number represents an increase of 18,5% compared to 2016.

According to the information released, of the total of 3,760 million passengers, the majority used the Airport during the second quarter of the year (April-June), with a total of 2,86 million passengers in this period.

The growth between April and June 2016 and April and June 2017 was more accentuated, settling at 19,8%, data that the Sul Informação had already advanced.

The growth of the Airport of Faro remains in line with the increase in passengers at all national airports (20,6%).

According to VINCI, «there was a marked growth in Portugal, which reflects the strong performance of the national airline TAP, which is benefiting from the recovery of traffic in Brazil and the opening of numerous new routes».

The French multinational also highlights that «the development of traffic low-cost in Europe it is another of the main factors for the increase in traffic at Portuguese airports».

In the first six months of the year, the airport that transported the most passengers in Portugal was Lisbon, with 12,14 million (+22,2%), followed by Porto with about 5 million (+18,5%) and Faro with 3,76 million.
