The Algarve Family Therapy Unit, supervised by the Regional Health Administration, celebrated, on June 20, ten years of activity.

UTF began its activity in 2007, emerging as the basis of a project carried out by two family therapists, Pedro Teigão and Alexandra Alvarez.

With the creation of this public health service, the only one at the state level dedicated only to family and couples therapy, the objective was focused on providing an institutional response, offering a consultation aimed at assisting families in crisis, and on the availability of medical doctors family of the USF and UCSP, from the District of Faro.

Currently, coordinated by Pedro Teigão, the UTF already has a group of about 750 families and couples helped.

Always with the utmost confidentiality, working with what families bring to the consultations in order to make them believe that they have the capacity to overcome their problems.

These consultations are confidential, free of charge and users can be referred by their GP or self-referred via email.
