The clinical magazine “Algarve Médico”, launched this Thursday by the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve (CHA), can serve as a «business card for future doctors that we want to have working in the NHS», in the region.

This is the conviction of Paulo Morgado, chairman of the Board of Directors of ARS Algarve, who attended the launch ceremony, which took place in the auditorium of the Hospital de Faro and which was also attended by Joaquim Ramalho, chairman of the Board of Directors of CHA and Manuela David, dean of the University of Algarve.

In the session conducted by Daniel Cartucho, editorial coordinator of the project, the magazine was presented in general terms and the main objectives of the publication were highlighted.

“Medicine is too broad an area to be limited to purely medical issues, and therefore it is constantly being updated and changed. Thus, in addition to the scientific items, the journal “Algarve Médico” has other more transversal items, such as an area dedicated to teaching or the history of medicine, as well as the perspectives item, which will give space to reflection on medicine in its strands”, explains the CHA.

Joaquim Ramalho congratulated himself for the initiative that «reflects the work of the institution's professionals, who, in addition to their daily clinical activity, are also dedicated to scientific production, thus praising the image of the Hospital Center of the Algarve».

Manuela David, dean of the University of Algarve, highlighted the importance of this being «an online publication, accessible to all, considering that this is the future in the dissemination of academic and scientific production».

Daniel Cartucho, for his part, in addition to the presentation of the editorial project, highlighted the importance of the scientific work carried out at Centro Hospitalar do Algarve, «which puts us on a par with the great hospitals in the country».

Algarve Médico is an online publication «destined to disseminate knowledge applied to Medicine with the aim of contributing to the development of medical practice and promoting excellence in healthcare, through the dissemination of knowledge and research», explains Daniel Cartucho.

The magazine is available on the issuu platform and on the website of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve, «where you can read, download the publication in pdf format, consult all information regarding the editorial project, rules and procedures for publication or access the team's contacts editorial”, concludes the CHA.
