The project to create a network of access points Wi-Fi (hot spots) in the four parishes of Aljezur has already been approved, the Municipality of Aljezur has just announced.

The application had been submitted by the Municipality to the “Provision of Wifi Networks” support line of the VALORIZAR Programme.

With this approval, Turismo de Portugal will now grant financial support of around 41 thousand euros, after the signing of the Collaboration Agreement. The total cost of carrying out the project is just over 45 thousand euros.

According to the Municipality of Aljezur, the purpose of creating this network is "to provide free access to the Internet in the four parishes of the municipality". You hot spots will be installed in the “historic zones” of each one of them.

In the municipality of Aljezur, «it was considered the historic area of the town, where there are several museums and the castle itself». In this locality «there is even the historical and cultural circuit of Aljezur, of the greatest importance and much visited», stresses the municipality.

In the parish of Bordeira, more specifically in the locality of Carrapateira, it was also considered the historical nucleus, «due to the existence of elements of historical and touristic interest, including the Museum of the Sea and Land, the Parish Church of Carrapateira and Fortaleza of Carrapateira'.

In the parish of Odeceixe, the intervention will also take place in the historic area of that locality, “which is characterized by its narrow streets, the building's outline and the existence of the Windmill, the Igreja Matriz and the Adega Museu”.

The creation of an access point in the village of Rogil, the seat of the same parish, is justified, according to the municipality, because it is a “very frequented location by tourists looking for its beaches, who can access the Internet there and be presented with the page with the dissemination of tourist interests in the county».

To complement this intervention, as part of the project integrated in the «Algarve Mais Digital» application, the Municipality of Aljezur will adapt its current website for mobile systems (responsive), promoting its use from devices such as the smartphones or the tablets.
