Thousands of young footballers, representing Portuguese and foreign clubs, including the three “big” Portuguese, will compete in the new edition of the Copa do Guadiana, which will take place from 25 to 30 June in Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte , in Spain.

Around 4 athletes are expected in this tournament, who will form 224 teams in the 5, 7 and 11 football modalities. In addition to Benfica, Porto and Sporting, other renowned clubs will be present, such as Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis Balompié, Seville and Malaga.

The games take place daily between 8:30 am and 20:30 pm on both sides of the border, as this is an initiative jointly organized by the Chamber of VRSA and the Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte (Spain). In Portugal, they will take place at the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, Campo Francisco Gomes Socorro and the Sports Complex of Monte Gordo. In Spain, they are played at the Blas Infante Stadium, Ciudad de Ayamonte Stadium and Isla Canela Golfe.

During the tournament, the presence of more than 20 people is expected, "which will represent an estimated economic impact of 2,5 million euros for the region, an amount that will be distributed by hotels and restaurants, as well as by local businesses." according to the Chamber of VRSA, which expects to receive “clubs and families coming from the North to the South of the country, as well as from the Azores and Madeira”.

«The Guadiana Cup is one of the most important sporting events in the region, as it affects the city and the municipality. It represents a great impulse and effort in favor of the Algarve's economy», believes the president of the municipality of Vila Real, Luís Gomes.

The organization points out that "this is one of the highlights of the season, having created all the necessary infrastructure for the realization of great football moments, bringing together the best players of today from different levels of youth football."

The competition's opening ceremony is scheduled for the 25th of June, at 20:30, at the VRSA Sports Complex. With the exception of the opening, whose ticket is worth 8 euros, all tournament games are free to enter.
