Three dozen students from schools in Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António will compete in the Lower Guadiana Reading Contest, on June 13, at the Castro Marim Municipal Library, at 10:00 am.
This will be the third edition of this initiative, which in 2017 is inspired by the work «Let's Buy a Poet», by Afonso Cruz.
«Promoting the book as a fundamental tool in the cognitive development and acquisition of knowledge by children and young people, stimulating the development of critical thinking and contributing unequivocally to citizens better prepared for the challenges of the future, is the main objective of this initiative» , according to the Chamber of Castro Marim, the host of this year's edition of the initiative.
The Lower Guadiana Reading Contest is promoted by the School Libraries Network and the Lower Guadiana Library Network, in conjunction with school groups from the three municipalities.
