The new Psychology Service of the University of Algarve, which will provide consultations and services not only to students and staff of the institution, but to the entire Algarve population, will be presented on May 24, at 11:30 am, in the Teresa Gamito amphitheater, on the Campus of Gambelas da Ualg, during the 4th edition of the Southern Guidance Services Psychologists Meeting, which will take place at this Algarve Higher Education Institution.

«UAlg's Psychology Service (SP) is an assessment, intervention and research unit, made up of a team of psychologists with advanced scientific qualifications and specialization in different areas of psychology», according to the university.

«The SP is responsible for providing services to the community and carrying out activities to support teaching and research in four areas of specialty, organized in the following intervention units: Clinical and Health Psychology; Psychology of Education, Development and Vocational Counseling; Social and Organizational Psychology; and Neuropsychology,” he added.

The presentation of this new service that UAlg makes available to the region will be the highlight of this initiative, which starts at 10:00 am, with an intervention by João Guerreiro, former dean of the Algarve university and coordinator of the Evaluation Report on Access to Higher Education in 2016, who will talk about “Mismatches in access to higher education in Portugal”.

At 10:30 am, Filipa Perdigão and Eduardo Esteves, professors at Ualg, present the TESP Courses at the University of Algarve.

In the afternoon, the meeting continues with a presentation by Pedro Cordeiro, researcher at the Research Center of the Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Studies and Intervention (CINEICC) of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, on the theme « Cognitive-motivational determinants of career decision-making processes in 12th grade students: A longitudinal investigation in the light of the Self-Determination Theory».
