Olhão will come together again to clean up the Ria Formosa, on the 26th of May. For the fourth consecutive year, the Real Marina Hotel in Olhão is going to launch an action to clean up this lagoon area, with the help of various entities, including the Câmara de Olhão, Ambiolhão and the Ria Formosa Natural Park (PNRF).
During the morning of the 26th, a Friday, volunteers will be at various points in the Ria, in the municipality of Olhão, to collect all kinds of debris.
For, recalls the Municipality of Olhão, «despite being a protected area, the Ria Formosa is still “victim” of the deposition of debris, such as plastics, metals, nets, glass or trunks». The objective of this initiative is also to make the population aware of this reality.
Ilha da Armona and the headquarters of the PNRF, in Olhão, are two of the places that will be visited by volunteers. In 2016, the more than one hundred people who joined the cleaning up of the Ria Formosa «collected more than a ton of garbage».

«On the day of the action, participants are advised to wear a hat, clothing appropriate to the weather, comfortable shoes and, of course, sunscreen», concluded the Chamber of Olhão.
