A new collection of «Postais Manuel Teixeira Gomes» will be launched in Portimão on Monday, 29 May, as part of the celebrations of the Patron Day of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Grouping.
This is a project by the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, with the support of the Municipality of Portimão/Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, which aims to promote the writer's life and work.
The project, promoted by the School Library, in conjunction with the 10th and 11th grade art courses classes and the teacher Telma Lança, started with the reading and discussion of the short story “Maria Adelaide”, in order to select the excerpts to to illustrate.
The illustrations, carried out using different plastic expression techniques, appear on the postcards associated with the respective text. Portraits of Manuel Teixeira Gomes were also recreated in manga (Japanese style drawing).
This is the third thematic collection of postcards produced within the scope of the curricular component of the courses. The first collection, created by students from professional computer courses, consisted of a graphic design work that brought Manuel Teixeira Gomes and his beloved Belmira to school, today, with a selection of love phrases taken from his work, and launched in the 2016 Valentine's Day.
The second collection, created by the students of the Child Support Technician course to celebrate Patron's Day 2016, brought together old images of cities where MTG was: Paris, Tunis, Tlemcen (Algeria) and Portimão, associated with fictional texts with the support of the Institute of Ibero-Atlântica Culture. All editions were sponsored by the Municipality of Portimão.
