The 21 Tourism Offices of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) supported 588 thousand tourists throughout 2016. The most sought after post was that of Faro, with 89 thousand assistances throughout the year, followed by those in Lagos and Tavira, with 61 thousand and 58 thousand, respectively.

These numbers mean, in the view of RTA, that tourist offices are assuming «an increasingly important role in welcoming those who choose the Algarve for their holidays».

"Service at tourist offices can motivate the stay and return of tourists, as well as the perception they have of the destination, by influencing the choice of places to visit," said Desidério Silva, president of RTA.

The tourists will have been "very pleased" with the way they were treated, adds the entity, based on a satisfaction survey it carried out, which can be consulted online.

"According to a satisfaction survey carried out among users, they were very satisfied with the service provided by the tourist offices and highlighted the quality of service and care, as well as the location and accessibility of equipment, the attention and kindness of the service. personnel and the quality of the material distributed», explained the RTA.

“Tourism offices play a very important role in welcoming tourists and in promoting our offer. In them we provide information about thematic circuits, cultural programs, heritage, sporting activities and useful information for the visitor, in a personalized way. In recent years we have been investing in improving the conditions of the posts, in offering new services (for example, most structures already offer free wifi service) and in training human resources», concluded Desidério Silva.

In 2017, RTA expects a greater influx to tourist offices, remembering that a new tourist office will be inaugurated at the Airport of Faro, "in view of the increase in the number of passengers at the airport structure (+18,5% in 2016, compared to 2015)".
