The book "Faro Legendary”, which brings together the main legends of the county, with engravings and historical and biographical notes, is presented on May 10, at 18 pm, at the Municipal Museum of Faro.
The publication, edited by Ambifaro, will enhance an "irreplaceable part of the Algarve's intangible cultural heritage", according to the local council
According to Bruno Lage, president of this municipal company, «Faro it bears witness to a history shaped over the centuries by different civilizations, where the county's cultural heritage includes not only dozens of remarkable monuments and buildings, but also a very valuable set of oral legends and traditions, many of them unknown to the general public, whose imagination reflects the ancestral beliefs of our people».
Not least because the influence of the Muslim presence left "for several centuries, a strong cultural heritage that is still evident today."
«Because a people without memory is a people without history, AmbiFaro intends with this publication to contribute to a better understanding of the heritage, culture and identity of the county of Faro», says the municipality of Faro.
Professor João Leal and historian Jorge Carrega will be invited to this presentation.
