On the 18th, it will also be possible to visit Fort Ponta da Bandeira. And this night visit comes within the scope of the European Night of Museums.

For 2017, this International Day is dedicated to the theme “Museums and controversial stories: saying the unspeakable in museums”. Thus, the backdrop lies «in the role of museums as a vehicle for the most controversial stories, an interesting topic that will certainly be approached in very different ways by Portuguese museums», says Câmara de Lagos.

The International Day of Museums, created by ICOM – International Council of Museums, and marked on May 18, intends to celebrate and give a voice to museums and the role they play in today's society, by choosing a theme for reflection at a global level that allow for a broad discussion carried out on different points of view.
