The Algarve had a hotel occupancy per room of 56% in March, one percentage point more than in the same month last year, according to data disclosed by the Hotel Association of Portugal (AHP).

AHP highlights “the positive behavior of Algarve Barlavento in all indicators, with a 2,1 pp increase in the occupancy rate, 7% in the average price per occupied room and 11% in the RevPar [average price per available room] compared to homologous period'.

The region named by AHP as Algarve Sotavento «presented the highest growth in the occupancy rate in the region, with over 12 pp and a value of 74%, to which was added a 13% increase in RevPar, but the average price per occupied room observed a decrease of 5% compared to the same period of the previous year'.

The Algarve Centro “showed a negative performance”, which the association “probably” attributes to the “calendar effect”, since Easter, this year, was celebrated in April.

This zone showed a «slight decrease in the occupancy rate, with minus 1,8 pp and greater decreases in the average price per occupied room and RevPar, minus 11% and 14%, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year», concludes AHP.
