Throughout the months of June and early July, the 7th edition of the Festival of Marches will tour the municipality of Odemira, with 10 meetings of marches, an initiative of the Municipality and various communities.
The marches annually mobilize hundreds of people in choreographies, music, wardrobe, arrangements and props.
The marches will be presented in S. Luís (June 2nd), Longueira (June 3rd), Colos (June 9th), Cavaleiro (June 10th), Sabóia (June 16th), Boavista dos Pinheiros (June 17th) , Vila Nova de Milfontes (23 June), Zambujeira do Mar (24 June) and S. Teotónio (1 July).
Odemira receives, on the night of June 30, at 21 pm, the Grand Final of the 7th Festival of Popular Marches of the Municipality, with the participation of all the marches promoted by the communities of the various parishes and sardines offered to the population. Entries are free, as are other meetings within the scope of the activity.
The eight marches are promoted by the Humanitarian Association D. Ana Pacheco (Sabóia), Zambujeira do Mar Cultural Recreational and Sports Association (Zambujeira do Mar), Association of Retired, Pensioners and Elderly of the Parish of S. Teotónio), Sport and Cultural Center of Cavaleiro, Cultural, Recreational and Sports Association of the Residents of Almograve, Boavista dos Pinheiros Party Association, S. Luís People's House, S. Teotoniense Recreational Society and Odemira Sports and Cultural Center.
Also within the scope of the Festival of Marches, between the 7th and 28th of June, a Show of Costumes of the Festival of Marches will be open to the public at the José Saramago Municipal Library, in Odemira, an initiative of the Municipality and various communities.
The objective is to value and show the wardrobe works, in the female and male models, made for the marches, over the years that the initiative has been taking place.
