The Chamber of Faro has just launched, on the public procurement platform, eight tenders for works foreseen in the Faro Requalifica2, for a total of 529 thousand euros.
Interventions include, for example, conservation works at the former Colégio de Santiago Maior, now Teatro Lethes, and the repaving of streets in Alto Rodes and the Gorjões-Santa Bárbara de Nexe road, up to the intersection of Goldra.
These works also include the execution of a section at Rua Féria Pavão and the repaving of Rua do Emissor Regional do Sul, with a «probable» completion at the end of September, both with the delegation of Faro of RTP.
Added to these interventions are the repaving of the Galvana urbanization, Rua do Moinho and streets in Estoi, in a second phase (streets Visconde, Marçal Lourenço, Arco de Santana, Cavaleiros, Pé da Cruz, Fernando Álvaro Secco and skid tray).
All works were part of the Municipal Investment Program, launched in 2016, after a budget review, and which was eventually rejected by the State Budget.
The complete liquidation of the Financial Rebalancing Plan now allows interventions to move forward.
The Chamber of Faro regrets "however, that all the time lost (11 months) since the 2016 budget review obliges services to launch the procedures only now, making several interventions coincide in time, which could cause some inconvenience to traffic flows and circulation" .
Having said that, the municipality appeals “to the good spirit of understanding of our residents. We will do everything so that the situation is normalized by the end of September».
