Loulé will join the International Museum Day celebrations with a program of initiatives that is launched today, May 18, and lasts until the 26th, in various areas of the municipality, including the celebrations of the Museum's 22nd anniversary Municipal.

The party starts today at the Cândido Guerreiro and Condes de Alte Museological Center, which at 18 pm receives the presentation of the Literary Tour «Cândido Guerreiro and the Aldeia de Alte», in the context of the activities developed by the researchers of the Lit&Tour Project, which «aimed at studying and promoting the various manifestations of the dialogue between Literature and Tourism», according to the Câmara de Loulé.

One of the objectives of Lit&Tour is «to contribute to the dissemination of authors and places associated with them, creating proposals for tours, circuits and routes, and other literary experiences». The researchers presented this proposal for a literary tour to the Municipal Museum of Loulé, which is important «for the knowledge of the work and the figure of Cândido Guerreiro, patron of the Alte Museological Center». The Literary tour runs until December 31, as «a unique invitation to visit Alte, guided by the words and eyes of the illustrious Altese poet».

Tomorrow, at 14:30 pm, the same museum will host another session of the “Alte by the Window of Time” section, at 14:30 pm, through which, using old images, the community gathers to remember the history and traditions of Alte.

«If I were… Zoo-Archaeologist» is the motto for a session of «Families at the Museum» on Saturday, May 20th from 14pm to 30pm. This is an example of the activity linked to the study of animals found in archeological sites and is aimed at children aged 16 years and over, accompanied by an adult. Registration is free and mandatory, and can be made through [email protected] or 30 6 289.

The commemorations program also includes the inauguration of the exhibition «Pedro Freitas: Life and Work of a Louletano», which will be on display from May 23 to June 30 at the Loulé Municipal Archive. The aim of this exhibition is «to make known the local history and ethnography, through photographs, letters, objects, books and other documents belonging to the immense collection that this musicologist donated to the Municipality of Loulé». Pedro de Freitas was the author of the monograph “Pictures de Loulé Antigo”, which takes us to Loulé at the beginning of the 17th century. The exhibition opens at 00:23 on the XNUMXrd.

The program ends on the 26th of May, at 18 pm, with the presentation of nº00 of the Raízes magazine, a publication by the Municipal Museum of Loulé dedicated to local history and culture that will celebrate its 5nd anniversary the day before, 22th of May.
For more than two decades, recalled the Câmara de Loulé, this museological space promoted «the investigation of vestiges of the past of man and its environment, acquiring, preserving and exhibiting them for educational, scientific and recreational purposes, stimulating the safeguarding, enhancing and disseminating the historical, cultural and natural heritage”.
