The passage of Cape Bojador, products arriving from Beyond the Sea, slavery and the wars of North Africa were the four main themes of as many days of the Festival of Discoveries, which attracted thousands of visitors to Lagos.

In addition to the XNUMXth century Fair, there were parades (opening and closing), thematic guided tours around the city, conferences, recreations of historical episodes, music and capoeira shows (this fight-dance invented by black slaves in Brazil, which is already heritage of Humanity), dances, demonstrations of gastronomy from the Discoveries or of weapons and harquebuses and even a theater show, with the play «Filhos do Fogo de Deus», in the atrium of the building called Mercado dos Escravos.

These were days of great entertainment for the city of Lagos, as visitors - including many foreign and national tourists, enjoying the long weekend - spread through the streets of the historic center, where the bass drums and bagpipes they also made themselves heard.
