MAR Shopping Algarve, the shopping center that is part of the IKEA complex in Loulé, will open on 27 September, announced today by IKEA Centres.
The indications given by the project's promoters, so far, were that the shopping center would be open during the summer, but will open its doors five days after it ends.
Contacted by Sul Informação, the press office of IKEA Centers denied the existence of problems and also that there was any delay in the plans.
"The opening is within what was said: the second half of 2017. Everything is going well and we finally have a date", he assured.
As for the Algarve Designer Outlet, which is scheduled to open in the autumn of this year, the same source says that there is still no date for its opening.
Herman Gewert, general director of MAR Shopping Algarve, emphasizes that «it has been a very rewarding challenge to work on this project with the desire to also be a relevant leisure and cultural space for the Algarve and the entire community. In addition to a unique mix of stores, we are preparing initiatives for all tastes and ages, so that this is a space where everyone can find what they need and feel good».
According to the note sent to the newsrooms, Mar Shopping Algarve «opens its doors to receive visitors from all over the Algarve, Alentejo and southern Spain. It is the first project in the country to combine shopping centre, outlet and outdoor leisure area with 8.000 m2 and 3.500 parking spaces».
This 200 million euro investment by the IKEA Group «offers the region a commercial complex of 82.000 m² consisting of MAR Shopping Algarve, IKEA store and Designer Outlet Algarve and represents the creation of 3000 direct and indirect jobs in the region».
Among the 110 stores in the new complex are: NOS cinemas, h3, Häagen-Dazs, Hanami Sushi, Hussel, Celeiro Dieta, Butcher's Burger, Butcher's Market, Vitamins & Ca., Wok to Walk, The Gato Preto store, Aromas , Bershka, C&A, Casio, Centroxogo, Decimas, Deichman, Pharmacy, Foreva, Giovanni Galli, Inside, Jean Louis David, Joyeria Jose Luis, Knot, Lefties, Mango, Massimo Dutti, Mike Davis, Misako, Opticalia, Ornimundo, OVS, Oysho, Pandora, Parfois, Pingo Doce, Pluricosmetics, Primark, Pull & Bear, Punt Roma, Salsa Rituals, Sephora, Sfera, Springfield, Stenders, Stradivarius, Tiffosi, Time Road, Tous, Travel Abreu, Vodafone, Woman Secret, Worten, Zara, Zara Home and Zippy.
