The PSD of São Brás de Alportel announced today, in a statement, that the Center for Medicine and Rehabilitation of the South (CMR SUL) is at risk of closing due to a lack of nurses, but the Regional Health Administration (ARS Algarve) «refutes» information “alarmistic and wrongly disseminated” by the Social Democrats.

In the document sent to the newsrooms, the PSD of São Brás de Alportel claims to have learned "that the South Rehabilitation Medicine Center (CMR Sul) is preparing to close the internment service."

The Social Democrats say that "it has been decided and has already communicated that no more people will be accepted for internment and must discharge those in hospital because there are not enough nurses" and add that "in doubt about its closure, the Ambulatory Service, since it is still going to be evaluated if it will have enough nurses to be responsive to remain open».

According to the PSD of São Brás de Alportel, «these measures were communicated to the entire team at the South CMR, including Dr. Josélia Gonçalves, recently appointed executive member of the Regional Health Administration, who tried to « appease the employees, since there are no defined deadlines for the services to open again».

ARS Algarve says, however, in a clarification, that it intends to «reset the reality of the facts regarding the departure of nurses from the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the South» that «the already announced calendar for the resolution of the management situation of the CMR» is maintained South, which will integrate the future University Hospital Center of the Algarve».

According to the entity, «the Hospital Center of the Algarve (CHA) is working towards, in the next few days, finding nurses to replace those who left (without warning and for competitions in Health Units)».
