APOS – Association for the Valorization of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Olhão, promotes on Saturday, May 6th, at 10:00 am, a guided tour of the Via Romana section located in Moncarapacho.

The visit is free and open to anyone interested. It will be guided by Hugo Oliveira, archaeologist at the Municipality of Olhão.

According to APOS, it is "an opportunity to discover the remains of this Roman road that was part of the network of roads built by the ancient Roman Empire."

The Via Romana of which there are still traces in Moncarapacaho is what remains of a road that left the ancient Roman city of Balsa – in the Luz de Tavira area – and merged with another road that connected directly to Ossónoba (Faro).

The visit, which should last an hour and a half, will also have a “strong naturalist component”, given the fact that the route is integrated in a rural setting.

All those registered must gather at 10:00 am, next to the Igreja Matriz in Moncarapacho.

Entries are limited to a maximum of 20, and must be made to the email [email protected].
