Tomorrow the new UCC Vicentina opens and health extensions in Bordeira and Azinhal reopen

The Secretary of State for Health will visit the Algarve tomorrow, to inaugurate the Vicentina Community Care Unit (UCC) in Vila do Bispo and to preside at the ceremony for the celebration of cooperation protocols with various regional entities under the project «Algarve Coração Seguro » at the Hotel Alísios, in Albufeira.

Manuel Delgado's visit also includes a visit to the municipality of Loulé, as part of the commemorations of the Week of the Municipality, and to the Health Poles of Bordeira (municipality of Faro) and Azinhal (Castro Marim municipality), which reopened.

According to the Algarve Regional Health Administration (ARS), «these units will reopen, after having been subject to conservation, improvement, requalification and functional adaptation works, with the aim of providing them with better operating conditions, benefiting users so much , as the health professionals».

Thus, the visit of the Secretary of State begins in Vila do Bispo, at 10:30 am, with a visit to the Vicentina Community Care Unit (UCC).

Based on the premises of the Vila do Bispo Health Center, UCC Vicentina, which covers about 5500 users, registered and residents in the municipality, operates from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 16 pm, and on Saturdays, from 9 am at 13 pm, including home support for integrated continuing care.

As a functional unit of the Barlavento Health Centers Group, this is the 12th Community Care Unit in the Algarve region (5 at ACES Barlavento; 5 at ACES Central and 2 at ACES Sotavento).

At noon, Manuel Delgado will be in Loulé, to visit the Project of the Health Center of Brincadeiras, in the city's Municipal Park, where professionals will present the various health services to children, in order to demonstrate that it is a space where you can also play and learn, demystifying the fear of health institutions.

The government official will then go to the land provided by the Loulé Council for the construction of the new Family Health Unit (USF) Lauroé.

At 15 pm, at the Hotel Alísios, in Albufeira, the Secretary of State presides over the signing of the cooperation protocol for the Algarve Coração Seguro Project. Participating in this project are the Academic Center for Research and Biomedical Training of the Algarve (ABC), the Regional Health Administration (ARS), the Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL), the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), the Hotels Association and Algarve Tourism Enterprises (AHETA), the Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA) and the Algarve Hotel and Similar Industry Association (AIHSA)

According to ARS, this cooperation aims to «guarantee more health, safety and well-being to the population of the Algarve and to all those who visit us».

In this context, the ABC will promote training actions in Basic Life Support (SBV) and Automatic External Defibrillation (AED), aimed at tour operators, hotels, commercial and public spaces, with a view to «endow and strengthen the response capacity of the professionals in the area of ​​tourism and the various hotels in the region to provide first aid in emergency situations».

At the end of the day, the government official will preside over the reopening of the Bordeira Health Extension (municipality of Faro), at 17:00 pm. ARS emphasizes that this Health Center of the Personalized Health Care Unit of Faro covers 362 users and will operate on Thursdays, from 09:00 am to 17:00 pm, with a doctor, a nurse and a technical assistant.

An hour later, Secretary of State Manuel Delgado will be in Azinhal (Castro Marim municipality), for the reopening of the Health Extension in this village. This is a Health Hub of the Beasuris de Castro Marim Family Health Unit, which covers around 400 users and will operate on Wednesdays, from 08:00 am to 14:00 pm, with a doctor, a nurse and a technical assistant.
