European Youth Week is celebrated with lectures and get-togethers in Faro

An information and debate session on European programs in the area of ​​youth and sport for association leaders and coaches, on May 4th, at 18 pm, and a meeting on European youth volunteering, on May 00th, at the same time, are two of the initiatives. of the European Youth Week, with the theme “Your project, your Europe: Build, Live, Participate”, in the delegation of Faro of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).

And if “Café Europa – gathering on European youth volunteering” intends to bring together current and former EVS – European Voluntary Service volunteers with the aim of motivating other young people to join European programs in the area of ​​volunteering, the session on European programs in the area of ​​youth and sport wants to “promote the sharing of good practices and promote reflection on how European programs can contribute to the development of the associative movement in the region”, says the IPDJ.

In addition to these initiatives, the “Espaço Ler Europa” will also be inaugurated at the “Ponto Já” store in Faro, on the 3rd of May, at 15:00.

In this space, documentation and information on European issues of interest to young people can be consulted with the collaboration of the Bookshop of the European Commission.

On the 4th, at 10:00 am, there will be, in turn, the activity youth lab “Your project, your Europe: Build, Live, Participate”, based on the format of Idea Labs, where it is intended, through non-formal education methodologies, to allow young people to reflect on European issues such as the five future scenarios of the White Paper.

Finally, on the 5th, at 10:00 am, also based on the format of the Idea Labs, there will be the activity Youth Lab: "Be young! Ser Volunteer”, where the idea is, through non-formal education methodologies and with the participation of current or former EVS volunteers, to allow young people to reflect on the theme of volunteering.

For these initiatives, the IPDJ joined the National Erasmus+ Youth in Action Agency, in partnership with the Center Europe Direct of the Algarve, with the associative movement of the region and with the teaching establishments of the city.

The European Youth Week is an event of the European Commission, which every two years brings together the 33 countries involved in the execution of the program Erasmus + in activities aimed at young people, it aims to promote European values.

In Portugal, between the 2nd and 7th of May this year, the European Youth Week will be celebrated through the realization of numerous initiatives, from the North to the South, including the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira, with the aim of contributing to strengthening the connection of young Portuguese people with Europe will become even stronger.
