The Vanguard Properties group, owned by French millionaire Claude Berda, will invest 12 million euros in the construction of the White Shell Beach Resort, next to the beach of Nossa Senhora da Rocha, on the coast of the municipality of Lagoa.

The first stone of the luxury development was laid this Tuesday, by the French businessman himself, and also by José Cardoso Botelho, general director of Vanguard Properties in Portugal, and Francisco Martins, president of the Lagoa City Council.

On the 38 thousand square meters of land, overlooking the sea and located a few hundred meters from the coast, the 55 apartments of T1 to T2 types of this four-star resort, which will also have heated pools (indoor) are starting to be built today. , outdoor and children), a spa, gym, tennis and paddle tennis courts and “lots of green leisure space”.

José Cardoso Botelho, general director of the group in Portugal, revealed to Sul Informação that Vanguard Properties, which is, at the moment, «the largest Portuguese property developer», with «400 million euros already invested in Portugal» and ongoing investments in Lisbon, Comporta and Senhora da Rocha, is «analyzing three other opportunities in the Algarve”, one of them also in the municipality of Lagoa (Benagil) and the other two in Armação de Pêra (Silves) and in Vau (Portimão).

Taking into account the restrictions on the construction and creation of new developments, due to the rules of Protal, what Vanguard Properties has been doing is looking for already licensed projects, often currently in the hands of banks, in order to implement them.

This is what happened with the land where the White Shell Beach Resort next to Senhora da Rocha beach, which, as José Cardoso Botelho revealed to the Sul Informação, «was bought from Banif», already having the construction «licensed», which facilitated and accelerated the process.

Even so, the team led by architect Miguel Saraiva had «six months to make a upgrade strong in the project', to adapt it to the characteristics of the luxury investments that Vanguard Properties prefers.

Architect Miguel Saraiva, from Saraiva + Associados, explained to our newspaper that his team's work involved, for example, «reducing the construction area of the original project, to increase the quality of the urban space, in order to create a product of excellence with an excellent service».

The apartments, he explained, are actually divided into “houses with apartments inside”, of low density and height, “because the morphology of the entire surroundings is also of low density and we wanted to respect these characteristics”.

Miguel Saraiva considers that another of the «anchors» of the project of the White Shell Beach Resort is the landscaping project, in charge of ProAp: «there was an almost extreme quality care in common areas and green spaces», which represent «a large part of the investment».

Very satisfied with this important investment in real estate and tourism in the municipality of Lagoa is the Mayor Francisco Martins. "This is the kind of luxury projects and investments that we want for Lagoa," the mayor told Sul Informação.

«This was a project cherished by the Chamber, not least because it was at risk of losing the license», and it was necessary to bring together «the three parties» (investor, autarchy and CCDRA) to «make this high-quality project happen».

Francisco Martins also expressed the hope that the French millionaire's Vanguard Properties group will "embrace other projects in the municipality", namely those that are "in the hands of the banks' real estate funds".

Construction has already started today, under the responsibility of the construction company NVE Engenharias, and the undertaking, in the construction phase, should create 60 jobs. Once in operation, six direct and permanent jobs will be created.
