The national rally champion Inês Ponte Granja, born in São Brás de Alportel, will be sponsored by the municipality of São Brasense. The decision was approved last Tuesday, the 18th, at a Chamber meeting.

Inês Ponte, who won the 2016 National Rally Championship as navigator of driver José Pedro Fontes, has, according to the municipality, «a vast track record in motor sport, a path she started at age 16, in her rally debut as a co-driver in a car zero".

The City Council of São Brás de Alportel emphasizes that Inês Ponte Granja is the first woman to win this title in Portugal, which gave her «an even greater responsibility in the dissemination and promotion of the role of the navigator».

The local authority recalls that Diogo Gago, National Champion of Two Wheels Motor Rally and winner of the Rally Casinos do Algarve in 2016, received city council support, as well as rider Daniel Pires, an «Algarvian promise in the sport».

According to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, these young people from São Brás «represent an enormous pride for the Municipality», because «in addition to being athletes, they are also ambassadors of the municipality and its people».
