The World Climate March, which will take place in cities all over the world, will also take place in the village of Aljezur, this Saturday, April 29, from 15:00, with concentration in front of the Chamber.

In Portugal, the initiative will also pass through the cities of Lisbon and Porto, with the same objectives: to protest against the climate policies and in favor of fossil fuels of the American president Donald Trump, but also against the «authorized oil prospecting hole» offshore of Aljezur.

The World Climate March, which comes after the appeal of the People's Climate Movement, born in the United States of America, has already joined 15 countries and brings together associations, organizations and movements in defense of the climate and against all activities and policies that promote the emission of greenhouse gases.

According to environmentalist João Camargo, from the Climáximo movement, "it was the social and popular pressure of the movements against prospecting and exploration of oil and gas in Portugal" that "has already managed to lock in six oil and gas concessions in the Algarve, which were held by Sousa Cintra, by Repsol and by partex».

Therefore, "it is important to maintain this pressure and even increase it to definitively stop the oil saga in Portugal and put us once and for all on the path of renewables", he adds.
